Part 3 Backpacking Boots by Nutnfancy
In this series I cover key features of backpacking boot construction to help you in your purchase decision. I may have left some things out but I cover the important parts. I don't review specific boots and probably won't ever: models change frequently and it's just logistically impossible for me now. Using the info I provide here just give a good basis for getting the right heavy duty hiking boot. ** Please do not PM me with questions about specific boot models and what would be good for ...

Great series, excellent knowledge on you topics, one comment I may have during my time in the defence force we were always told to lace across the boot not crisscross as in your videos. The reason is should you ever need to cut your boots off in a hurry, fall into sea or deep river or an injury it is easier to cut down the lenght.Just a comment take as you will Cheers Jock
gaters wont let the moisture wick out of the boot via the cotton and wool socks(wear 2 pair)that i wear.never had problem with foreign materials getting into boots.gaiters are for winter applications(keeping snow out of boot).
What is the military using? How do they stack up?
thanks! Great vids!
Shoe goo! among the greatest substances ever, it’s exactly what I thought when you first pointed out the separation. 119747, can you (or anyone else) explain what you mean by “across the boot, not crisscross?”
Thanks for the videos, nutn.
steel shanks also keep pungi sticks, from going through your foot.
when was the last time you went hiking and had a pungi go through your foot?
If you want good boots get Russell Moccasins.
whats a pungi?

if u go hike in my swamp, u’d better have steel shanks >:{
:p
this is scary if u read this this far u will die in 10 days if u dont send to any 15 videos in 2 hours good luck hope u dont die !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is it posible to make a cutting tool with the shank if it was needed in suvival?
Are we talking prison terms now?
If anything, a stabbing item not cutting one, but why would you want to take appart your incredibly vital hiking boots?
There are things you can turn into cutting items in the nature, your boots are sacred.
no we are not talking prision terms
however with much respect to you and i agree with your statment your boots can become fubar in this situation is it a wourthy peace of equipment to scavange ?
many thanks .
p.s. sorry for any bad grammer or spelling .
if your boots are fubar or you got an extra pair that are fubar, find some fubar’d in the woods or whatever i see no reason why the shank couldn’t be turned into some sort of tool.
